How long does installation take, and when can I park on it?

Is this different from a garage floor kit from a home improvement store?
Substantially. Consumer kits are typically thin water-based epoxy meant to be rolled over acid-etched concrete, with a light flake scatter and no dedicated topcoat. They go down in an afternoon and commonly peel within a couple of years, especially where hot tires sit. We grind the slab mechanically to a profile, repair cracks, broadcast flake to full refusal rather than scattering it, and finish with a separate protective topcoat. It is a different system, not a better-applied version of the same one.
Will hot tires damage the floor?
Not on a properly specified system, and it is a real risk here. Hot tire pickup happens when tires that are still hot from summer pavement soften a coating and pull it off the slab as they cool and grip. It is the classic failure mode for thin consumer epoxy in a hot climate. We use commercial-grade resins rated for that thermal cycling and a topcoat built for it, which is why our floors handle St. George garages in August.
Can you coat a slab that is already cracked or stained?
Usually yes, and it is most of what we see.
